Greetings! I hope you haven't forgotten me! I just graduated in June from college, been unemployed since, had my birthday last week, broke someones heart, found out something I did'nt want to know about even though it was eating me up inside, gained probably 10 pounds from lack of physical activity, whilst also being a tour guide for the never ceasing slew of relatives coming over to visit since its their on summer vacation. The reason for not writing in the blog? none really. Theres always some downtime in between all these things but one thing about me is that I really think about what I write. I don't want it to be half-assed, so I tend to write when I'm in the mood for it or feel an itch to write something I can't scratch.~~~~~
Since my last post I've realized something very important. Regardless of what relationship we are talking about, there are certain "stages" we'll call them that everyone goes through. Whether it be girlfriend/boyfriend or friendship type of relationship; its all the same. It first starts out at a "honeymoon period" where everything is great---perfect even. It does NOT matter if the people are completely different or anything like that because right now they just met. They have so many things to talk about, so many things to share, but at the same time, they only know the person on the surface really. Some people may say otherwise like "No we are best friends, we know everything about each other" but I believe that is not possible. With time and with experiences that you go through with this person, you change the way you act around him/her and also get to see their true colors. When you enter the second period "engagement", its the most crucial of all--sink or swim. This is where you realize the differences among you and other person as well as how they act in certain situations. You either accept the person or the relationship will perish; Changing them is out of the question. Many people get stuck in this stage, they struggle to keep their relationship afloat when its really going nowhere. Sometimes it just stays that way forwever. Its sad really. So much time is wasted in trying to make it all work out, and in the end it makes neither person happy. If you get passed that...that's when you enter the final stage of "marriage" where ideally everyone wants to be. It's a difficult journey, but if you make it that far, the relationship between both people is as strong as ever and nothing hinders it. There is no real words to describe this stage, it could only be said that it is a wonderful thing. That lasting relationship that everyone seeks to obtain is very difficult to actually have. It's sad that so many people live their lives thinking that they have this, when one day they finally realize they have nothing. Nothing but a shallow illusion of what a real and true relationship is.~~~~~~~~~~~
MUSIC. YES. I love the SMITHS. It's amazing to rediscover something because you fall in love even more with it. You might have gotten sick of it and pushed it aside, or overlooked it for some reason or another but when you come back to it after some time the feelings are as strong as ever. In this case, for my birthday I went to see a movie called 500 DAYS OF SUMMER. Amazing film. and goes with my current experiences at the moment too haha. but yeah, coincidentally the soundtrack included the SMITHS and its just brought me back. Although their music is from the 80's, its timeless. Their genius; but you have to listen for yourself.
There's 3 stages
of everything

All my dreams, see them die, As I kiss you, Goodbye, goodbye, goodbye
I'm back! For good this time. Since my last post, a lot of drastic things have happened in my life both good and bad. A lot of things that have changed me like never before. I don't want to start a lecture so its sufficient to say that you MUST experience certain things in life in order to learn from them. People will talk about how horrible this event was or how beautiful this other experience was but in the end you can't really understand it unless you actually have been through it. That's all I have to say for now...
Today I bring you the green day discography just because they are an amazing band. Whether they are "sell outs" or not is up to you to decide. All I know is that they worked hard(they came from Berkeley yay!) and have made it to the top being loyal to their musical style. They keep getting better and better( just listen to their new CD!!21st Century Breakdown!)
experience: to participate in or partake of personally.

You stupid girl, All you had you wasted, Cant believe you fake it, You stupid girl...
So I actually have a "valid" excuse for my absence. My old (responsible) roomate disconnected the internet before she left leaving the rest of us with nothing. So its been a constant search for a good internet deal and then wasting countless time waiting for the companies to acutally pick up their fucking phone and tell us about their offers and how much fees we have to pay including installation, service and hardware related shit. Finally we got a decent offer and got connectivity yesterday HOORAY! So you shall hear more from me. Alot more. I'm going to keep this brief becaise no matter how much I procrastinate, I still have two big ass papers waiting for me.
Today I present two similar but very different Brit pop artists-Lily Allen and Kate Nash. Before even thinking of what you have HEARD about their personal lives or whatever other bullshit the media feeds you I want you to listen to them first.
Lily Allen is an amazing singer/songwriter in her own right. She likes to drink, smoke, get laid, who doesnt. We've heard it all before but what is important is the music. Although her music is based off pop she adds spice to each of her songs incorporating some reggae, folk, techno, french (and other sounds) into the mix. Her second cd is even more of a mix then her first but i still highly reccomend both. She stated before releasing her second cd that if people did not like it then she would quit music. I strongly hope this does not happen!
Then we have Kate Nash who yes sounds a lot a like Lily allen because of their accent and whatever whatever but shes different. Unlike, Lily, her music is stripped down implementing usually just the keyboard and of course her voice. This may have negative effects on peoples music because of the lack of range but on the contrary, Kate finds ways of making each song in her only cd unique in its own way. Her songs always seem to tell story whether it is about being (obsessed) in love with a jerk("We get on") to talking about the problems with her childhood friend-her skeleton. ("Skeleton song").yeah you heard right. Now listen.
I'm glad you guys are patient. Because I'm not.

Forget about our mothers and our friends, We are fated to pretend, To pretend
Wow Its almost a new year. I am going to double post today for the occasion. I learned after travelling for the second time this year that there are two ways to get to REALLY know a person. #1 To live with them #2 Travel with them. It could be surprising how much you get along with them or you dont. How much they change when they are living under the same roof or when you are thrust into a different cultural enviornment or routine. I could say that I have had experience with both and it has brought me closer together with someone and on the other hand also widen the gap between another person. I also wonder why relationships have to be so complicated. People go crazy over trivial things while the more serious issues are ignored or discarded. People continue to live a life they dont want or is hurting them which I have personally seen happen way to many times. One of my new years resolutions is to become stronger and help those people close to me that I have seen sunk into nothingness. Leading a life they do not deserve. They are such great people so full of potential but because they are mentally weak they need someone to hold them by the hand to be by their side and push them towards what they really want. Or I could also buy a gun and hold it to their head and 'What do you really want to do with your life!!!' 'A VETERINARIAN but ttto much school' 'Would you rather be dead¿' 'no please no!!' 'I'm keeping your license. I know where you live. I'm going to check
on you. If you aren't back in school and on your way to being a veterinarian in six weeks, you will be dead. Get the hell out of here.' Heehee I wonder where I got that from :]
TO THE MUSIC
yep today is Mexican music day. I must say Im not very fond of spanish music. Usually you will hear the same damn mainstream shit wherever you go. Finding indie or some sort of different music is pretty hard to come by. So for now I will post what I believe is two of the few mainstream bands that you should really listen to. Whether you know spanish or not you will like them. It has been scientifically proven by me in various experiments haha.
First off is Belanova. Who are an incredible band. They are pop-technojazzyschnazzy too much genres to list. They also have some english songs too.I saw them in concert sometime early this year since they released their new cd. The lead singer is pretty cool she writes most of the songs for the band and yes they might be in several commercials but they are just good. I guess I can loosley compare them to the Ting Tings but their sound varies from song to song. HiGHLY ReCOmmENDED.
Next we have the Cafe Tacuba. These guys are not your conventional rock band. They bend their genre in every way and I think have over 16 cds out!! They have been in the industry forever and it shows. Unlike most bands that create one cd and then die away or create a shitty follow up cd their music gets better and better. Its also cool that their band has remained the same since they started out. No changes in guitarist or drummer no one leaving the band. How has their marriage lasted so long? hmmmm maybe I answered that before ;) I also saw them in concert and they play so good you get stuck in this musical trance. I love their cds because their songs are so variable. One will be crazy riff screaming I hate you song and the next will be an acoustic heartbreaking mellow song. And no they dont only talk about love and relationships....EVERYTHING! Yep my descriptions are the best! Anyways listen listen!
Im not good at relationships..
and all those ships...

Just to see if it would show, that I'm trying to let you know, that I'm better off on my own
HOLY CRAP 2 posts in a row! Yeah I'm trying to make it habit to write more especially since the year is almost over (: Anyways topic of the day: pet peeves. A while ago someone asked me what my pet peeves were and I really didn't have many. My other friend was so specific about what she hated: people leaving their dishes, calling her when she's sleeping etc etc...I really couldn't think of anything..I mean I hate a lot of things but I tried to think of something that really steams my broccoli...Then it hit me. I ABSOLUTELY HATE REMAKES OF MOVIES. Especially when its made based from a book or originally from another country. One example is the up and coming movie of Dragonball. When I first heard of the idea I wanted to freaking protest or something to keep them from ruining one of the best manga/anime franchises out there. Of course they start choosing some random actors to take the roles and then they go on to completely slaughter the storyline and then everything goes downhill. I recently saw the trailer from the official sight and was disgusted as to how bad it was( it was worse than I could have imagined). Even people who had never heard of the series probably won't like the movie and no I am never going to watch it. But OK don't take my word for it go ahead and watch it. I give it 5 out of 5 stars(for the worst movie of the upcoming year). The thing that really kills me is not that its a "bad" movie but the fact that they are using a franchise like dragonball that is good just how it is. I don't know about anyone else but I grew up watching that show and I kept at it until the dragonball GT saga. For it to suddenly be bought and "remade" into yet another predictable hollywood film is the worst for me. This also leads to my other pet peeve I HATE DUBBING. LEAVE EVERYTHING IN ITS ORIGINAL LANGUAGE DAMMIT!(but thats going into a whole other topic....)
Today's music post is Tokyo Jihen a Japanese band. The lead singer Shiina Ringo is a musical genius. Their music is completely genre free because they mix so many different elements together- its amazing. If you have ever seen their live videos you can see how powerful they are while playing. Even if you don't understand what that the hell their saying you are going to have their songs on repeat mode. Especially their first full length album Kyouiku{education}. I guess one of their main influences is jazz; you could hear it a lot in their music. However keep in mind that I DO NOT LIKE jazz at all. So I only post the best from this genre!

And we'll all float on, alright
I can't believe my last post was taken off! Either way I'm reposting I don't care what RCAA or whatever they are called say! Anyways this year is almost over OMG. I swear every year that passes for me goes faster and faster. So yeah I have 2 more weeks of torture(AKA finals) and then I'm off traveling again. This time I'm going to Mexico so I guess I'm not complaining too much. This year has been full of adventures for me and of course personal umm developments. Sometimes I wish that I could go back to the old days like high school where my friends and I were so close knit and there wasen't so much responsibility or pressure to do good. No you MUST do good because your future depends on it. Back then, when in high school a lot of people thought there was so much pressure to graduate and do good in your classes but it really means nothing. There is still so much work ahead more than anyone could imagine.Of course even though its hard work its actually fun. You are learning what you love and you meet so many interesting and different people. Coming from such a shitty background moving to college was such a change for me...but why am I talking about this now right? I'm about to graduate in June! ONWARD!!
So MUSIC MUSIC MUSIC. Even though the end of the year is close at hand we get a much anticipated release by THE KILLERS. Yeah yeah say whatever you want...they are so mainsteam!....they are posers... dont know how to make music bla blah blah...quite the contrary because they are good. There are 2 different types of mainstream bands/singers. #1 there are the typical mainstreamers, who get signed because of their connections or their triple D bra size or scandalous personal life. They rely on other people to write their music and do whatever the label tells them. Then there are the #2 types who usually start like any other humble band...playing in the garage giving it up for music..and little by little they make it big..but their music is good...they write and play their music...they break musical barriers.... Nothing more to it. The killers are #2. So I urge you to listen to them. Don't worry even if you said "no I dont like them" or "i'll never listen to them if my fucking life depends on it" NOW IS THE TIME. I would personally rank Sam's town and Hot fuss as the best of their work so far. COMPLETELY different sounds but excellent all the same. Their new cd Day & Age is really good too. It does not quite come up to par with the first 2 but its a must listen nevertheless. Now if you really like those 3 I just described then you can move on to Sawdust....I love you Brandon ^_____________________________________________________^

and i hope you will forget, the things I still lack...yeah
Well well well I can't believe its November already jeez. Ok so this post is strictly music so you don't have to scroll down until you get to the good stuff. This post will consist of the big three singers that were the ones that I guess you can say introduced me to the marvelous world of Japanese music. If they ever sung together for some reason they would create millions of dollars more than they already do and make a musical masterpiece. All three are in my mind completely different from each other in their musical style, personality and voice. First I will start with UTADA HIKARU (note that the last name comes first in Japanese names FYI). To me she is the founder of modern j-pop but unlike so many of these popular mainstream Japanese singers she always experiments with her music. She writes not only love songs but about ANYTHING IN GENERAL. Her Exodus Cd for example has songs like "hotel lobby"(life of a prostitute), "tippy toe"(about having an affair) and "you make me want to be a man"(title says ALL). Besides that she has done songs for several dramas and video games(like Kingdom hearts) and they are all INCREDIBLE.
The next singer is none other than OTSUKA AI. ok ok maybe she has the image of a typical j-pop singer but she is not. Her sound usually stays inside the borders of pop but she always adds a little something to each songs to make is sound unique. She also takes a lighthearted approach to music and her lyrics range from love songs ("daisuki da you") to having fun and doing stupid things on the beach ("SMILY") and oh and I must not forget to mention the "Kuroge Wagyu Joshio Tan Yaki 680 Yen" song about killing a guy because he didnt treat her out to eat LOL(what a bastard!). I also HIGHLY recommend her videos they are so random and hilarious!
Last but certainly not least is NAKASHIMA MIKA. Mika Mika Mika where do I begin with her? She has like this split personality. One being a mellow like Jazz singer and the other being a crazy punk rocker who doesn't give a shit haha. I must say that I love both sides of her because when you hear her Jazzy Cd's you get caught in a trance because her voice pulls you in and the music by itself is amazing as well and im NOT EVEN INTO JAZZ AT ALL!Then you have her rocker side which catches you as a surprise because you don't expect it from her but when I heard her first song "glamorous sky" I just couldn't stop listening. The cool thing too is that her voice never really changes is just sounds good with everything! Her most recent work (rocker side) is her side project "MICA3CHU" which has only released one single so far but it has been her best stuff from this side so far. As for the Jazz she should be releasing a cd next month I CANT WAIT <3

Can anyone say HI-MI-AI
Pictured Right Nakashima Center Otsuka and Top is Utada. I'm sick of their posey pictures. These look much better I think (: Click on their names to get their respective discographies.
